We’re constantly reviewing how we operate to ensure customer safety in our homes and neighbourhoods. Here’s a summary of some of the further measures we’ve taken in 2023/24 to improve safety.
- Introduced a Building Safety Team to monitor compliance, fire, and structural safety.
- Upgraded fire alarms and fire doors at our Jubilee House, Highfield House, and Longsight Lodge extra care schemes.
- Created a building safety page for customers on our website, which contains information on keeping you safe in your homes.
- Developed a second series of animated customer guides on building safety, with more to follow.
- Sent out annual fire door safety leaflets to help customers to check that their fire doors are safe and to explain how to report any concerns.
- Launched a customer engagement strategy which is available on our building safety hub.
- Continued our work to make sure every home has a working smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector, if needed.
- Started working on creating a high-rise customer panel to ensure customers living in our high-rise buildings have a voice in building safety.
- Completed fire safety improvement works to our high-rise blocks at Blackshaw, Rogerstead, Fearnstead and Rainford.
- Submitted our building safety cases for our high-rise buildings to comply with the Building Safety Act (2022).
- Continued working with customers in all our buildings to keep shared communal spaces clear to reduce the risk of fire and ensure safe evacuation.
