A greener Bolton

A greener Bolton

We’ve continued to develop and deliver our aspirations outlined in our Climate Change Strategy and Delivery Plan. This work all contributes to our ambitions to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2038 in line with Greater Manchester’s vision for the city region.

We’ve reduced the annual carbon dioxide emissions from our business operations by over 2,435 tonnes since 2011 (34%).

We’ve started our Housing Retrofit programme with a successful bid to the government’s Social Housing Retrofit Fund. This will provide approximately £2m of funding towards our first retrofit project raising the energy performance of around 200 properties creating homes that are warm, comfortable and economical to live in.

We’ve started to train our engineers on how to install and maintain renewable low carbon technologies such as heat pumps and solar panels.

We’ve started to implement our Carbon Literacy plan to raise awareness on Carbon Footprints for our workforce.

A key priority for the next three years will be to implement programmes to bring all our homes up to a minimum energy performance rating of band C, making properties warm and comfortable with low running costs.
